NaimNet home distribution system
 Over the last 30 years Naim Audio, who are based in Salisbury, have built a reputation for producing products of unprecedented musical reproduction ability – we can’t disagree.
In the technology age we are now part of, it makes sense to be able to access quality music around the home and Naim have partnered with Netstreams and Digilinx - a proven IP based solution to allow 'zero loss' distribution of audio and soon to be added video around the home.
IP based technology is not new, computer networks have used it for years and you may even be using yourself to read this if you are connected to the internet using a router. Taken to its logical conclusion, all the appliances within our home could be connected to an IP based network. Fridge, smoke alarm, telephone system and the NetStream system is the backbone that would allow such technology to function.
Naim have chosen this method of distrubution as it will allow for full bandwidth audio to be delivered without any loss of quality or time delay between zones - in party mode. This means that if the same music is playing around the house when you have guests round there will not be any sonic delay between zones creating an irritating echo.
One of the most interesting aspects of this system is its flexibility. It can be expanded to include telephony, CCTV, computer networking, and lighting systems now. Most currently available distribution systems do not provide the scope to incorporate these different systems.
